Energy Saving LED Street Lights - Light Up Central Park
|New York’s Central Park got a green makeover with the installation of 1,600 energ ysaving LED street lights.
The makeover if a very good example showing that going green is not only a eco-friendly move. It also makes economic sense.
Inefficient metal-halide lamps have been replaced with LED bulbs, which are more efficient, uses far less energy and lasts longer. It allows the city to save on energy costs while maintaining style.
The energy saving LEDs will reduce energy consumption and with 75,000-hour lifespan, it also help reduce cost of maintenance. All in all the LEDs will help save 62% in energy cost and maintenance, that is about $30,000 savings in a year.
